In June 2012, the owners of MedAmerica Mutual Risk Retention Group voted to change the company’s name to The Mutual Risk Retention Group, Inc. Starting September 1, 2012, we’ll be known simply as The Mutual.

The name change was motivated to avoid marketplace confusion as several non-related companies use “MedAmerica” in their names.  As The Mutual has distinguished itself from the rest of the industry throughout its history in the manner in which it conducts its business, the owners wanted the company’s name to do so as well.

The Mutual insures emergency and acute care groups, physicians and their physician assistants and nurse practitioners in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

The Mutual is committed to remaining true to its core principles of providing broad insurance coverage; developing focused and effective patient safety programs in collaboration with our insureds; defending our insureds vigorously when they are involved in medical liability litigation; and always responding fairly to all claims.
