The Mutual’s Board of Directors has selected Drs. Thomas and Westcott as Policyholder Liaisons to the Board of Directors. The Board’s Chair, Catherine Hurt, MD started with The Mutual’s Board as a Policyholder Liaison, enabling her to experience Board meetings and learn the basics of insurance company operations and governance before election to the Board. The training process intrinsic to the Policyholder Liaison positions is most effective in preparing practicing physicians to join the Board as effective Directors starting with their first Board meeting.
The Mutual’s Board members are very pleased to welcome Drs. Thomas and Westcott as its newest Policyholder Liaisons.
Both Drs. Thomas and Westcott are well known to The Mutual. Drs. Thomas and Westcott have served as Physician Educators for The Mutual’s Patient Safety Departments and both are Medical Directors of their emergency departments—Dr. Thomas at Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Dr. Westcott at Adventist Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
